Martins Oak was built in 1748, and
so is a relatively recent building for Battle. It has been used as a Surgery
since 1920. For some years the Doctor lived above the Surgery and there is still
the remains of a speaking tube for contacting the Doctor in case of emergences
by one of the side doors.
In 1999 we refurbished the main waiting, Nursing and administrative areas, and
work has continued on the Doctors rooms since.
District Nurses and our Health Visitor have offices on the first
floor.
We use a start-of-the art EMIS clinical information system, and operate a
'paper-lite' office. This means that patient notes, letters from hospitals
etc are scanned into a secure computer system enabling the clinical staff to
have instant access to the appropriate medical records.
In addition to all the usual medical equipment, generous donations have
allowed us to buy an automated defibrillator and fetal heart detecting machines.
We have also acquired "Continuous Ambulatory Blood Pressure" Monitors.
Disabled Access
The reception,
our consulting rooms and our main patient toilet are all on the ground floor and
disabled-accessible. Unfortunately, we have no on-site parking available
for any patients.
We also have some small
Branch
Surgeries.
